Studying in Canada (study permit)
Regulated consultant, RCIC R520189
A study permit is issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to study at a designated learning institution (DLI). In Quebec, a CAQ is generally required before the permit application.
Processing time
About 8 to 16 weeks for an application submitted outside Canada, depending on the visa office.
Estimate only, based on times typically observed with IRCC or MIFI. Times vary by visa office, application volume and file complexity. They are not a guarantee.
A study permit is a temporary resident authorization that allows a foreign national to study in Canada at a designated learning institution, subject to the conditions imposed by IRCC.
Most applications submitted outside Canada require a provincial attestation letter (PAL). For Quebec, the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), issued by the Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI), generally serves as the provincial attestation.
We prepare the file against IRCC requirements (purpose of study, proof of funds, admissibility and supporting documents) so that the application is complete and consistent.
