Express Entry is the IRCC system that manages permanent residence applications under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class.

Processing time

About 6 months after IRCC accepts an invitation to apply (ITA), according to IRCC's service standard.

Estimate only, based on times typically observed with IRCC or MIFI. Times vary by visa office, application volume and file complexity. They are not a guarantee.

Express Entry is not itself an immigration program. It is the system IRCC uses to manage profiles and invitations for three federal economic programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates create a profile, receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on factors such as age, education (educational credential assessment, ECA), language ability (CLB) and work experience, and may receive an invitation to apply (ITA) in a round of invitations.

We assess eligibility for a program managed through Express Entry, the CRS points strategy (including an ECA, often through WES, and language results) and the application package once an ITA is issued.
