A bridging open work permit (BOWP) allows certain permanent residence applicants already in Canada to keep working while IRCC processes their application, if they meet IRCC criteria.

About 2 to 4 months, depending on IRCC processing volume.

A bridging open work permit (BOWP) is intended for certain foreign nationals already in Canada who have applied for permanent residence and who meet IRCC conditions, including an assessment that the permanent residence application is complete enough to proceed.
It is meant to avoid a gap in the right to work while permanent residence is processed. It is not automatic: eligibility, timing and current status must be confirmed.
We confirm whether you fall under a BOWP category and prepare the application (IMM 5710 or the applicable form, proof of the permanent residence filing and status).
